Eva and I flew in to Seattle after our wedding and drove to Portland and then to the Timberline lodge. Friends from Westinghouse in New England, Daryl and Pete, showed up and we had a late afternoon and evening nap and then some food. A transport took us to the top of the Palmer ski lift and from there on, we hiked. Roped up at the Hogsback and managed to summit as the second party that night. A great feeling to stand on top of Mt Hood when sun rise over the horizon. The conical shaped shadow of the mountain on the clouds below us to the West was remarkable. There was a long line of climbers ascending when we were descending. The hike back to the lodge was very long that morning. A great day on the mountain with great friends. This is our 36th state highpoint.
We continued south to Crater Lake after staying another night in the area.
