Max Patch Trip Report (#13395)

My family lived near Max Patch & the Salvation Army Chapel at Maple Springs in 1947-48. I had a great curiosity to see the area again. The fall weather was perfect, but I was cold with the harsh wind near the summit and could hardly hold still to take a photo. Amazing that I could have actually lived out there. No wonder Hurricane Creek is so named although we pronounced it "Harrican". Sure wish that someone would restore the chapel. Above the chapel is Hurricane View Cemetery, the final resting place of Major Cecil Brown who was connected to our family through marriage.
