Another great day in thousands over the last 20 years I've spent climbing Devils Tower..... Once again today, I had the wonderful pleasure climbing with Jeff, Tyler, Lisa, and Tanner, but this time to the summit of Devils Tower at 5,112 ft.. The weather turned out to be cloudy and windy, not near as nice as yesterday. The group did fantastic. We were all climbing cracks like nobody's business. The bridging training we did yesterday really paid off! "Spiderman does what ever a spider can" was the theme of the day. What a blast!!
There were several parties on Durrance as we climb the South Face. Even on guy rope soloing with a Silent Partner.
After a long stay on the summit taking photos and telling stories, we had a spectacular rappel down the Meadows Rappel Route. Boy could Jeff, Tyler, Lisa, and Tanner Rappel. I got some fantastic video of them bounding and dropping along. It will make an excellent dvd for them along with all their slides.
They mentioned coming back to the Tower soon and visiting me for some ice climbing in Ouray this winter.
How long can Indian Summer Last?
Cheers! Andy PetefishTower Guides
