What made my climb possible was the expertise of Curtis; since I had torn my MCL in my left knee five weeks before the climb, on training day I was unable to run, jog, and even walking was tough. Also the night before the climb I was unable to sleep, and as a topper, the large plate of beans I ate for supper was causing mayhem Oh, did I mention that I also over 60. By 4:00 a.m. Curtis and I started to the tower in the dark. With Curtis guidance and encouragement, I came to realize that you only need to climb inches at a time. Curtis and I made it up the Durrance route and back down in less than 5 hours. While this is the toughest thing by far that I have done, I glad I did it. Expect to get really tire, but if you ever have doubts, don't give up.
I believe that while we all travel the road of life, it is the side excursion which gives it meaning.
