Thanks to J. Vranjes for adding this peak.
La Sale (3646 m) is one of three closely packed peaks [the other two being La Luette (3548 m) and Le Pleureur (3703 m)]. The closest approach with a hut on the way, and the normal route, is from Igloo des Pantalons Blancs (3280 m) which is only about 1.5 km from the summit and with the height difference of only 366 m. The Igloo can be reached from the Dix dam in 3.5 hours. The normal approach to the Igloo is over Rochers du Bouc (3314 m); it is a simple walk with perfect views all the time, mainly without snow in summer time and with a hanging steel chain at one point only, after passing the summit of Rochers du Bouc and rather close to the Igloo. This place requires some coution in the case of snow or rain when it becomes a bit slippery. The snow area starts from the saddle between Rochers du Bouc and the Igloo. The other approach to the Igloo is through the valley to the west of Rochers du Bouc, with a walk over Ecoulaies glacier, and with a very steep final part before reaching the Igloo.
The other approach to La Sale is from the Dix hut, and in combination with climbing La Luette and/or Le Pleureur, more details are available at La Luette site.
