Description

Two very well-known rock and ice climbing routes on the mountain are the Crowberry Ridge and the Crowberry Gully. In summer, these are both reasonably testing rock climbs but, in winter, the Ridge can become ice-glazed while all the Gully pitches can be completely wiped out making it not much more than a snow trudge.

There is a little-known variation. Start up the ridge. After a few pitches, find yourself on an exposed ice-glazed buttress. With discretion being the better part of valor, escape to the right and somewhat down. Soon a hole (tunnel) appears and shortly thereafter the Gully is reached. Steepish snow leads up to the summit.
