Mount Adams

With due respect to Chris Mallory (the previous signer), I just wanted to clarify that the volcanic activity categories used on this web site are defined with the intention of establishing clear distinctions between those peaks that have experienced explosive eruptions in the last century (active), those that have experienced explosive eruptions in historical times but not in the last century (dormant), and those that have experienced no historical eruptions (extinct). There are several volcanoes, including Mount Adams, for which there are no recorded explosive eruptions, yet there are apparent non-explosive signs of activity. These volcanoes are classified as "extinct" here according to the above definitions, but Chris is correct that they are not "dead". Thanks to Chris for pointing this out.
