Glacier Peak Summit Log (#2341)
- Signed By: Craig Robertson
- Date Submitted: December 19, 2001
Left White Chuck River parking lot at 8:15 AM on Saturday, passed Kennedy Hot Springs about 11:00 PM and arrived Boulder Basin at about 4:00 PM. Began climbing at 6:06 AM Sunday with five other climbers in two, three person, rope teams.
Encountered lightly dressed (blue jeans-no hat) solo climber coming down from first snow field at about 7:30 AM. He stated he had fallen into a bergschrund at 7,000 ft at 8:30 PM the previous night and after shivering for nine hours waiting for someone to come by with a rope, he was finally rescued. We thought him lucky it hadn't rained.
Summitted at 1:00 PM on the Sitcum Glacier route (most popular) along with two or three other climbing parties. Returned to Boulder basin by 5:00 PM. Walked out the following morning in light snow and rain. Approximately 5 hours to trail head from Boulder Basin.
