Description
Pethangtse is in between two giants:
Everest and Makalu. The easiest ascent is from the south (Nepal); basically this is not a very difficult snow/ice- climb, but beware of the high altitude; you may have to camp above 6000m the day before the summit attempt. The Tibetan- side is more rocky; especially the steep east-face. If you want to climb this mountain legally be prepared to pay a lot of money; The prices of permits have drastically risen the last few years (in Nepal)
To the left of Pethangtse after a col (6177m) rises Shartse 1 (7444m), a foothill of Lhotse (8501m).
