Description
A very lofty landform, Zunil volcano is visible from long distances and is one of the least visited volcanoes in Guatemala. Zunil belongs to the oldest geological generation of the Guatemalan volcanoes. It is a heavily eroded cone, with no apparent crater. The area is very cold during the night, and the path up goes through very lush sub tropical rainforest, making it a great experience. The path starts at Fuentes Georginas Hot Springs, and winds its way through the mountain until reaching the sharp peak, which offers a great view of other Guatemalan volcanoes, including Atitlan, Santo Tomas, San Pedro, Toliman, Agua, Fuego, Acatenango, Santa Maria, and others.
