Summited this tourist-peak on a nice windy day from Plateau Rosa (3500m) solo (if you can call it solo with all those people on highway one to the summit). Great view for the effort to get there.
Passed a lot of roped two-teams with a too short rope and ice-screws hanging from the harness - I wonder what ice they will screw it into in case of a crevasse fall. This climp is snow, snow and even more snow. Almost nobody carried snow-flukes which is more useful here. I even saw people with short ice-hammer ice-axes. "Wanna-look-serious" kinda people.
However, if you do this climb unropen - STAY on the well-beaten track. It is a glacier after all.
