Grisedale Pike

Description

Rising to the West of Keswick and south of Whinlatter Forest from where it is well seen, Grisedale Pike - along with Hopegill Head - marks the northern extremity of the high fells of the Grasmoor Range. North of the Whinlatter Road the North Western Fells continue but stay below the 2000 foot contour.

Due to easy access and an impressive shape, Grisedale Pike is a popular ascent with the quickest route being from the car park just beyond Braithwaite at the foot of the Whinlatter road though including Hopegill head in an ascent from the North makes for a more interesting - and quieter - route to the summit. The fell's position on the edge of the Lake District ensures fine views from the summit weather permitting.
