Description
Originally named Mt Humboltdt after the German explorer who pioneered scientific mountaineering, the name was changed due to anti German sentiment in the First World War. The mountain is surrounded by glacial lakes and is characterised by the dolerite columns that are a feature of most mountains in western Tasmania.
The peak can be climbed in a long day walk starting from the small club ski field at Mt Mawson.
