Description
Grandfather Mountain, elevation 5964 feet above sea level, is the highest peak in the Blue Ridge Mountains, a part of the Appalachian Mountain chain. It has a rugged profile, with rocks more than a billion years old, and towers over the Blue Ridge Parkway near Blowing Rock and Boone, North Carolina. Grandfather Mountain is a Southern Highlands attraction.
