Cerro Tristeza

Description

Cerro Tristeza (also called by a few Cerro Diablo) is the mayor altitude of three venezuelan states as it's summit is located on a triple point where the boundaries of states Sucre, Monagas and Anzoátegui meet. It is an isolated mountain which requires a refine logistic for it's climb. The mountain belongs to the eastern part of the Coastal Venezuelan Range and can be pointed as the highest summit of the north-east region of the country. The best aproach is from it's north side, beginning al the town of Cumanacoa. South bound fron Cumanacoa a road ends on a number of foottrails, one of wich climbs to aprox. 1600 mts. to a place known as Las Cabeceras. From here there is no marked route or trail to the base of the mountain and an expert or guide could be necessary. The climbing has to be solved on site by a northern ridge.
