Description
Unterberghorn is geographically part of Kaisergebirge, popular known as " Wilder Kaiser and Zahmer Kaiser ". To north is a less inclined slope wit a skilift region. To the three other sides, Unterberghorn has steep, brickle and very remote walls cutted by deep gorges. Only on southsouthwestern ridge is a marked route, but only to do by scrambling.
From the chairlift station south of Koessen ( appr. 1970 ft) at first short on a marked path, then on a long , broad carriage ( off limits for public traffic) to pasture Lackalm ( 4560 ft) on the south shoulder of Unterberghorn . 2 h. Over the south ridge, brickly and exposed, some wire- ropes, to the summit, 1 1/2 st.
Impressive view to the Kaisergebirge.
Descent nothern on a short ridge, then over the northern slope on an easy marked path. 2 h.
From Koessen over the northern slope there is also a nice mountainbike tour.
