Description
Grosses Wiesbachhorn is the third highest mountain of the Hohe Tauern range. Easiest ascend is the north west route. Nearest hut is Heinrich Schweiger Haus (Schweiger hut) at 2800 meter altitude. The mountain can also be climbed from Oberwalder Hutte, which takes about six hours. Nearest train station is Zell am See, from there one goes to Kaprun, then to Mooserboden.
If climbed from the east side, one can take train to Bruck an der Grossglocknerstrasse and continue to Fusch an der Grossklocnerstrasse. The east flank requires high technical climbing skills. Besides the east side runs the famous Grossglockner Hoch Alpen Strasse, a road which is 48 km long and provides awesome mountain views along the way!
