Description
The Rechberg is a 707 m high table mountain located south of Schwäbisch Gmünd. Together with the Stuifen to its east and the Hohenstaufen to its west it forms the range of the "Drei Kaiserberge", i.e. the emperor mountains due to the relation to the Hohenstaufen dynasty.
On the west side of the mountain around 100 m below the summit, there is the ruine Hohenrechberg. This mighty castle, built during the reign of the Hohenstaufen, was the family seat of the counts of Rechberg, which were first mentioned in 1179.
