Mount Aberdeen

Description

Mount Aberdeen is located in the Lake Louise area of Banff National Park. It is situated in the same cirque occupied by Mount Lefroy, Mount Victoria, Haddo Peak, Pope's Peak, Niblock, and Whyte. The Aberdeen Glacier resides on its north slope with Haddo Peak to the east. The Aberdeen Glacier can best be seen from the summit of Mount Fairview. Aberdeen can be viewed up close from the Plain of Six Glaciers trail at Lake Louise, or from afar along Highways 93 and 1. The mountain is named for Lord John Campbell Gordon who was the Marquis of Aberdeen (Scotland), and later served as the Governor-General of Canada in the late 1800's after he and his wife moved to Canada.
