Mount Sarbach

Description

Mount Sarbach is located in northern Banff National Park. It is situated prominently at the north end of the Mistaya River Valley and can easily be seen from the scenic Icefields Parkway (Highway 93). The Howse River runs to its west and north flanks before converging with the Mistaya and North Saskatchewan Rivers near Saskatchewan Crossing. Immediately to its south are Kaufmann Peaks and Epaulette Mountain, and to its east is Mount Murchison. The mountain was named for Peter Sarbach, the first Swiss guide in the Canadian Rockies who also guided the first ascent of the mountain.
