Description
Yamsay Mountain is located in south- central Oregon in the Cascade Mountain Range. It is part of Klamath County. It is also part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc. Yamsay Mountain is a shield volcano. It is 8,196 feet tall. Ice Age glaciers made many deep cirques in the volcano releasing magma, which hardened into many rock pinnacles. A tall fire lookout tower was built on the summit in 1929, but was removed after the 1970's. An abandoned road forms a trail to the summit of Yamsay Mountain.
