Mount Hood

Description

Mount Hood is located in the Opal Range south of Mount Packenham and north of Mount Brock. It is one of the shorter and less steep mountains in the range and has a good moderate scramble which uses the west slopes to gain the Hood Brock col, then it follows the south ridge (or just below it in places) to gain the summit. This scramble is highly recommended as the mountain does not get ascended much and you would most likely have the peak alone.

Named in 1922 after Rear Admiral Horace Hood who died in the battle of Jutland during World War I on the HMS Invincible when it was sunk.
