Description
Mount Terror is located in North Cascades National Park. Terror is the highest peak in the Southern Picket Range, which is a compact gneissic sub-range of the Cascades. The Picket Range is characterized by intense alpine scenery of jagged peaks cut by glaciers. This area is remote and any approach is long and difficult. The wet weather pattern from Pacific storms adds to the difficulties of climbing Mount Terror. Ice axe and crampons are recommended. Lage Wernstedt named Mount Terror and this name first appeared on maps in 1931.
Refer to Fred Beckey's Cascade Alpine Guide, Volume 3, for information on the established climbing routes on Mt. Terror.
