Canchal de la Ceja

Description

Leave Candelario in a generally southeasterly direction taking the road that passes by Candelario's camping and then zigzags uphill first to the Plataforma de Bejar continuing on to the Plataforma del Travieso (1850 m): ample parking space. From the Plataforma take one of the several rather ill-defined trails leading up to the Cuerda del Calvitero: fine views including that of the Sierra de Gredos to the east. Continue following the crest of the Cuerda in south-westerly direction, then at the col turn sharply east to scramble up through scree fields to the top of the Canchal de la Ceja (2428 m): 3 hrs from the Plataforma. Reward: wonderful panaramic views!
