Description
Mt. Maude is one of the least technical 9000 footers in the North Cascades. It can be ascended by hiking and route-finding. Depending on the season, you may want to take an ice axe. Follow the easy Spider Meadow Trail until it crosses Leroy Creek and then follow the Leroy Creek Trail as it climbs relentlessly to campsites in Leroy Creek Basin. Spectacular campsites can also be found at Ice Lakes beneath Mt. Maude. Mount Maude is the 13th highest peak in the state of Washington.
Refer to Fred Beckey's Cascade Alpine Guide, Volume 2, or Climbing Washington's Mountains by Jeff Smoot for information on all the established climbing routes on Mount Maude.
