Absolutely the sweetest peak my dad and I have ever climbed. Got started a 7:00 AM with a beautiful, cloudless day (hot though) Headed up Pamola Peak by Helon Taylor Trail (pronounced Hee'lon). When I crested the summit, my jaw dropped. If you climb it, yours will too. Then we proceeded on the Knife Edge, a narrow, rocky, windswept ridge w/200 foot drops on both sides. The first .1 mile of the trail requires careful descent and ascent, very tricky and precarious Class 2 climb. Then proceeds flat for a bit, then climbs up to South Baxter. From here, a comparatively easy scramble across to the highpoint. We took the Saddle trail down to the chimney pond trail at Chimney Pond, finishing more than ten hours later than we started (and we're normally pretty fast hikers) I would suggest bringing about 3 quarts on a warm day, we brought a gallon each and ended up carrying half of it back. Do I want to climb it again? Definitely!!!
