1937 -- Trail ride from San Cristobal up Lobo Peak and riding the ridges to Wheeler Peak.

1940s -- In high school; joined the U.S. Forest Service trail crew (summer job); have been to the top of the peak about six times. Climbed it once; other times by horse. Have approasched the peak from three directions, but never from Lake Williams

There is a fresh water spring very near the top of Wheeler Peak; as I recollect SSW of the peak.
