Mount Washington

My first ascent was delightful, with an overnight at Tuckerman's and then via Lions Head. As we neared the summit, I could swear I heard a train. Then I was amazed to stumble into a parking lot! I had no idea all that was up there. What a disappointment -- but only momentarily. In later years we had to call off a climb because at the base of Tuckerman's the fog was so thick that you could not longer see your hand stretched out in front of your face. It was that bad. I love my memories of Mt. Washington, and I hope it's still safe and awesome.
