Description
In the center of the South Alps, Shiomi stands on its own, separate from the Kita/Aino/Notori chain to the north and the Arakawa/Akaishi/Nijiri chain to the south. It has two peaks, the eastern peak being slightly higher than the western one. Access to Shiomi is via a winding forest road from Oshika Village, and then a four-hour hike to Senjo Pass, and another three hours to the final stretch, which is a steep rugged pile requiring lots of scrambling. From the top you can see across the South Alps, Mt. Fuji, the Central Alps and the North Alps in the far distance.
