Description
Beautiful free standing peak (the only one) in the Bernina region with a wonderful view on Piz Bernina and Bianco-ridge.
The mountain has two summits on its ridge. Coming from the standard route over the Eselsgrat (Middlemore-ridge), the slightly lower (3920) snow peak is first reached. Most climbers will only do the actual main summit, which is reached over a snow and rock ridge in about 1,5 hrs, from the snow-summit if they are decending over the Northeast ridge to the Porta da Roseg.
The mountain is a G4 on the Munter-scale, but the only actual difficulty is the Eselsgrat-Ridge, which is grade III with short pieces of IV-. Other than that, the total elevation of 1400 mtrs. starting from the Tschierva hut might be a challenge.
