Description
From the small town of Sheffield and the sourrounding farmland Mt Roland rises abruptly in to the sky. The lower slopes consist of dense eucalypt forest gradually thinning as altitude is gained, then the massive rock faces in which almost half the height of the mountain is achieved rise verticaly to the summit. The face track rises steeply, firstly through thick eucalypt bushland upto the rock line, some scrambling up a steep valley is required to reach the plateau. An easy 30 min walk is then taken to the summit across the surprissingly large and scenic plateau. Panoramic views of the amazing Tasmanian landscape lie beyond.
