Description
Store Smørstabbtinden is the second highest peak of the Smørstabb massif in northwest Jotunheimen, the highest being Storebjørn. Store Smørstabbtinden rises at the northern end of a spectacular arête that includes many high subsidiary peaks and whose network of connected glaciers forms the largest continuous ice-sheet in Jotunheimen.
To climb the mountain from Krossbu, follow the river to the glacier (Leirbreen), eastern direction (Map is necessary). Then up to Leirvann, and continue along the ridge to the top. A typical climb takes three hours up and two hours back. The view from the top is powerful in all directions.
