Description
With an altitude of 3614 m, Tödi is the highest peak in Northeastern Switzerland. Besides the main summit (Piz Russein, 3614 m), there are the summits Glarnert?di (3586 m) and Sandgipfel (3399 m) which are by far less visited. The usual access to Tödi is from the north (Linthal) via the Bifertenfirn glacier (lots of crevasses) or from the south (Trun). All routes involve glacier travel. There are several Alpine Club huts on the flanks of Tödi, one of them (Gr¸nhornh¸tte) being the historically first hut of Swiss Alpine Club, built in 1863.
