Jirishanca

Description

Jirishanca is a great icy pyramid, towering at the north end of the Cordillera Huayhuash. Though it rises among taller peaks, it dominates its higher neighbors by virtue of its spectacular structure. Its sharp, vertical peak, while beautiful, is a difficult climb, and there is no easy route to the summit. The mountain is often referred to as the Matterhorn of Peru, but its name describes it equally well: Jirishanca translates to Hummingbird Beak of Ice.
