The approach from this side is long and arduous but the mountain is seen at its best, particularly in winter. In this view Alcazaba is to the left and Mulhacen to the right.

- Photo by Roy LindmanA hut near Mulhacen 2, which is only a quarter of hours walk from Mulhacen. This one is small, but more windproof than the bigger hut on the top of Mulhacen.

- Photo by Roy LindmanFootpath near Poqueira hut at 2500 meters height, from here this splendid path leads to Capileira (1400m) following river Rio Poqueira very close. Plenty of water available ! This walk takes around 4 hours and total of 6 hours when climbing down from the Mulhacen. Go straight down from Mulhacen 2 and you will go allmost birdway to Capileira. There is also hostals (B&Bs) in Bubion and Pampaneira where I stayed.

This photo is taken from the ´collado de guardia´ at 2600 meters, going from our country hotel ´Casa Rural El Paraje´ in Berchules taking the high route to Trevelez (at the foot of the mulhacen). I´m looking at the eastside of the mulhacen. You will find this foto on our website as well under chapter ´sierra nevada´
