Lassen Peak

On a previous trip to Lassen Volcanic National Park a hike to the peak was not possible. I then planned a second trip to the park with the intention of hiking to the top. The one way distance of 2.5 miles turned out to be a challenge for infrequent hikers like us. It did take a while to get accustomed to hiking at that height. The hike does get steep especially towards the top where the switchbacks begin. The loose rock are not a big problem as the path is wide and well maintained.

It was windy at the top as the clouds had gathered. Views were obstructed completely to the West and North West.

It was my first hike to a peak above 10K ft and therefore a memorable one.
