Iztaccihuatl Summit Log (#3323)
- Signed By: Michael S. Roden
- Date Submitted: March 29, 2000
My partner and I attempted the peak on March 15th and the 16th. We were unable to reach the summit due to sickness. My partner started developing AMS at 15,500 feet. You must keep a close watch on the people you are climbing with. The mountain was extremely beautiful but, it is a long and very tiring climb if you go up the Rodillas glacier route. The best and least tiring route is the Ayloco glacier route. The soil is not as loose as the Rodillas route. Also, the wind can be quite strong so I would carry wind gear. The temperature was not that bad if you are protected from the wind. If you have questions please e-mail me and I will try to help.
