Mt Hobwee

Description

Mt Hobwee (1175m) is in the McPherson Range within Lamington NP on the NSW QLD border is is most easily reached from Binna Burra along the Border Trail. The peak has three ridges including Araucaria Lookout and is impressive when viewed from Chillingham in NSW.

It has some spectacular Antartic Beech Nothofagus moorei trees which are likely more than 2000 years old and breathtaking views from lookouts into NSW. There is a harder route from the Border Gate via the Bushrangers Caves though the trail can be hard to follow at times and is quite steep.

Mt Wagawn is the next peak to the East while Biby Hill and Mt Merino are the next peaks to the West. The Numinbah Gap to the East of Hobwee and Wagawn is a low (400m) pass that separates the Lamington Plateau from the Springbrook Plateau.
