My ascent of Marapara South Peak was a spur of the moment decision while I was spending a day in Tinagong Dagat which was customarily filled with campers in a Holy Week. The fog which engulfed Tinagaong Dagat the whole morning lifted, giving me an opportunity to explore nearby places in the camp. I decided to scale the peak that walls Tinagong Dagat in the northern side. Jeffrey Legaspi joined me in the venture and Noah Yap, a fresh acquaintance, tagged along.
After some false leads in the swamp by the eastern entrance of Tinagong Dagat, our climbing party found the spine of the East Ridge to begin our ascent. In barely two hours, we hit the summit area and, after a few minutes of search in the forested top, we found a boulder that serves as the highest point.
