Description
Mount Slamet, or Gunung Slamet, is the highest mountain in mid-Java, and the second highest in Java. It is also one of Java's most active volcanos, with many eruptions recorded since the 18th century.
The mountain has four craters on the summit, and a sand field. To Indonesian hikers, Mount Slamet is one of three mountains that comprise the "Triple S": Slamet, Sundoro, and Sumbing Mount.
