Black Mesa

The temperature was 99 and no shade! Once we stood under a little scrubby tree for a few minutes of respite while other hikers waited for us to leave so they could have a turn! Mile markers on benches are great - every trail should have these. A little over 8 miles round trip - be sure to take plenty of water as there is none available. Also, no bathrooms in the vicinity and very few places of privacy to relieve yourself. No wildlife seen on the trail, but we did drive past a herd of antelope on our way back.
