Description

Napes Needle is a 30 foot spire of rock, rising from half way up Great Gable, a mountain in the lake district. It was first ascented by W.P.Haskett Smith in 1886, which is thought to be the origins of rock climbing becoming a sport in its own right.

Other napes include Cat Rock and Spinx rock.

Do Not try to attempt napes needle without rock climbing gear as it is graded HS (hard severe)
