Mount Katahdin

Went up the Helon Taylor Trail (steep and strenous), across Knife Edge and down Saddle Trail to Chimney Pond. Was my second attempt after getting stormed off the Saddle Trail in 2002. Terrific mountain, not to be underestimated. Knife Edge isn't all its cracked up to be but watch out for that notch between Pamola and Chimney Peak. Blackflies ate me alive.

In answer to the question below, about what the word Katahdin means, my AMC Maine Mounatin Guide says it translates as "greatest mountain".
