Description
Naya Kanga is a 5846m "trekking peak". It is possible to get the climbing permit at the Nepal Mountaineering Association, you'll be better off with the help of a local climbing agency (be careful on wich one you'll pick). The climb from the advanced camp (located at 5000+ meters) requires good mountaineering experience (or an experienced Sherpani guide) and acclimatization (at least couple of weeks since you entered Nepal and a previous climb up to 5000m, like Tsergo Ri). The technical difficulty is PD+/AD-, but the snow conditions (often powdery) the height, the weather and the relative remoteness make this climb quite harder and more dangerous than similarly rated cilmbs in US and Europe. The reward is fantastic: A 360° view over the Himalayas make you feel this peak is higher than many other trekking peaks, often dwarfed by much taller mountains.
