Sajama

1997 was the year of the LAC Bolivia 6000+ Climbing Tour 1997 (LAC is Landgraafse Alpine Club, our local climbing club). With 4 persons, we climbed some mountains in Bolivia. Sajama was of them. At the time, we climbed the mountain, ORSTOM were doing drillings on the top (!), quite impressing. For me, reaching the summit was one of the great pinnackles of the visit to Bolivia.

In the village of sajama, we stayed at Aurillio"s place. He is a poor local to whom our moumtaineering club wants to donate a complete mountaineering outfit including hardware. If we do so, Aurillio can make a good living as a porter for tourists who want to climb one of the mountains around Sajama. If you go to Sajama and you have some space left in your luggage, please contact me so that we might arrange some kind of transport of the equipment. If you do so, Aurillio will definitly guide you to the summit of Sajama.
