Thanks to John for adding this peak.
Mt. Augustus is the largest rock in the world - more than twice the size of Uluru (Ayer's Rock). Nonetheless, because it is so remote few people even know about it. Located in the remote Pilbara, this grey sandstone monolith towers high above its surrounds. It changes colours during different times of day. Summer and spring rains bring wildflowers to the area. The area has historically been important to in aboriginal culture, and many rock paintings and cave paintings are evident in the area. A very remote area it is always good to ensure you have enough supplies and fuel and avoid travelling in summer when day time temperatures frequently exceed 40C.
