Matterhorn

Solo of Hornli Ridge. Mountain was "closed and unstable". Guides refused to climb, and I refused to pay, which is great because I was the only one on the route. Perhaps the only summit of that month (two Bavarians climbed the north face and opted not to complete the upper snow field due to snow instability). Route has all the makings of a classic alpine route (loose rock, bad snow, lots of garbage, etc.) on one of the most asthetic mountains I have viewed so far. I offer a one finger salute to all the jackasses who stick their bar wrappers into cracks.
