Aleutian Range

The Aleutian Range is located in Southwest Alaska, and is the westernmost of the Alaska ranges. It is the southwest continuation of the Alaska Range, and extends 600 miles northeast to southwest along the Alaska Peninsula , from Chakachamna Lake to Unimak Island. The Aleutian islands are partially submerged peaks of this range, and include a number of active volcanoes. The average elevation in this range is 5000 feet, and most of the mountains are volcanic. The scenery is spectacular, boasting lakes, rivers, glaciers, waterfalls, and a coastline of plunging cliffs and inlets. Wildlife includes caribou, grizzly bears, and eagles.
