Colombian Andes

In Colombia, the Andes are divided into four ranges. The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is located in the extreme north of the country, and is home to Colombia's highest mountains. Further south, the Eastern, Central, and Western Cordilleras are parallel north-south ranges. The highest peaks of these ranges are contained within the Eastern Cordillera, in a compact cluster of mountains called the Sierra Nevada del Cocuy.

Many of Colombia's mountains are isolated volcanic peaks, and are easily accessible. The snowline is high on these mountains (about 16,000 feet), so the snow-caps and glaciers are relatively small.
